The Living Tree

This set of exercises is intended to make you more aware of the impact of holding onto those areas and things within our lives that are no longer productive.

Opening to Discernment

Active Engagement

Follow the news for the next three weeks.  Identify the Geburic events .  How could they be “Tipharized” ?

  Meditative Focus

  • Sitting quietly where you will not be disturbed meditate on each of the questions from the Halls of Justice. How would you answer each as the assessors weighed the measure of your life?

  • Seeing yourself within the energy of Geburah - visualize how you would react in the place of having to give away some of your most prized possessions; even though you are aware that these no longer serve a purpose and you no longer have the necessary space or time to maintain them.

 Journaling

Finding Your Place of Release

  • Write a brief  metaphorical story or  essay relating the conflict between the need to release and cut away and the desire to remove obstacles and challenges that you would still fiercely wish to cling to.

 Meditative Focus

Meditation on the Magickal Image of Geburah

"A Mighty Warrior in his Chariot"

The Tarot card - The Chariot - connects the spheres of Geburah and Binah by way of the 18th Path.  This Path is attributed to water, the zodiac sign of Cancer and the Moon. The Chariot stands as connection to the Fire of Geburah and  the Root of Water of Binah- The Great Mother. It is within the catalytic energies of these waters that the spark of fire or creative effort pours forth. It is through the dedicated action of exerting control over those parts of ourselves that need reigning in and tempering that the transformed newly forged self may appear.

Shield of Focus Qabalistic Tarot Spread

This spread is appropriate to use to gain clarity on what needs your attention and focus in the given situation. When reaching the point of Kether (illumination) this card should be thought of as the beam of direction for the outpour of whatever energy and emphasis is guided by the rest of the cards.

Holding the deck of cards, infuse the energy of whatever the query is into the cards you are holding. Hold your intent steady and focused as you choose your five cards to be interpreted.

Using the five tarot cards select a card for each of the spheres as above. Lay them face up beginning at Geburah- moving to Chesed- moving to Binah- Moving to Chokmah. At the point of Kether, place this card face down.

Geburah (action)-  The strength contained within the situation that needs to be brought to the surface.

Chesed (emotion)- Where you must be gentle with yourself during this process.

Binah (mind)- The place of hidden understanding and knowledge of what needs to be acted upon.

Chokmah (heart/mind acting in union)- What efforts must be made towards good resolution.

Kether- The point of illuminated insight for positive outcome. This is the area that needs the culminating efforts of the other four cards to produce a synthesis of action, thought and feeling.
