Personal Study

The Living Tree

This set of exercises is intended to make you more aware of the impact of our thoughts, where and how they arise and how they can be used as effective tools towards self-knowledge, growth and dialogue with all parts of our spiritual and human natures.

Opening to The Feeling SELF

  Meditative Focus

  • Reflect on a scenario in which you felt you communicated clearly and effectively what you were feeling.

  • Reflect on a scenario in which you felt your intent was overwhelmingly guided by your emotional self.  What were the results?

  • Seeing yourself within the energy of Netzach - bring each scenario into the place of your emotional self, and replay in your mind the events.

  • Make note of how each scenario was transformed or changed when processed through the energy of Netzach.

Go within and seek guidance about what areas of your life need to be offered more compassion and where you may attract more beauty into your life.

Observing Your Thoughts

Mindful Meditation

  • As you sit in a meditative state, allow whatever thoughts that wish to present themselves to flow.

  • As each thought comes into your realm of awareness, take a moment to acknowledge it. Give attention to the nature of the thought and what action or response it may provoke. Do not judge or give inner dialogue around this thought, just simply observe it and then let it pass, if another presents its self.

  • Repeat this process for each thought that arises.  Giving it attention, making note of its qualities and centering awareness in your present state of mind.

 Journaling

Describe your moment of “Victory”

  • Select a time in your life when you felt you had great insight and clarity into a situation.  The word “victory” in this sense relates to moving through the illusion of what you think is true and seeing and sensing a deeper level of meaning and understanding from this newly opened perspective.

  • As you write about this experience, allow to flow any additional insights that you may have.

  • Then, after finishing, go back and take a look at what you have written. How much more clarity or definition can you add to this writing. What new insights arise as you red through what you have written.

  • Do this for several more rereads. Finally, go back to the beginning writing and make note of the differences, additions, and deletions you may have made after spending some time looking more deeply into the facets of this writing gem.

 Meditative Focus

Meditation on the Magickal Image of Netzach

"A Beautiful Naked Woman"

Soften your gaze and simply sit and look at the picture.  Engage  all of your senses and imagination as to how it would feel to be in this picture. What would the energy be like?  Which of these characters are you, or are you just the observer?  If you were the Venus, how would it feel to stand beautiful and naked?  After you have recorded your impressions, do a little research into what the artist was really depicting. What was the response of the public to this painting? What impressions did others have? If possible, spend some time at a museum and do the same type of engagement work with a painting that you select in the museum. Become as fully aware as possible  of the beauty and effort and creative inspiration that was necessary for the finished product.
